FROM BARBARA FOX-

"My book illustrations, such as The Great Gatsby, and books by Updike and John O'Hara have been seen many times in the Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibitions and in the Permanent Collection of The Museum of American Illustration. Love of the portraiture distinguishes these books and formed my illustration style.

Thirty of America's top writers, newsman and TV journalists posed for me for The Overseas Press Club - Barbara Walters, Liz Smith, Morley Safer, Tom Brokaw, etc

While drawing them, with my fat Persian cat, Reginald, at my elbow, funny and tender stories were spontaneously told me by these famous people about their own beloved pets. It was brought home to me that the love of animals is universal, a bonding experience we all share.

After portraits exhibitions of additional New Yorkers, held at the Grand Central Art Gallery and Henri Bendel, I began a book about the relationship between celebrities and their pets - "Public Lives, Private Worlds", based on the premise that our pets know us best yet still love us unconditionally. This launched my career in pet portraiture.

I will come to your home or apartment to take photographs of your pet myself rather than relying on 'family' photos. It is vital I become acquainted with you pet in a favorite spot. This introduction is the necessary foundation for a compelling portrait."

And don't forget-

21ST CENTURY PETS ARE SPECIAL

We see that pets are everywhere, strolling with their owners in fashionable outfits or led in groups by professional walkers.

They are showing up on The View or Letterman. They appear in national magazines being cuddled by celebrity owners or modeling in fashion shows for charity covered by Eyewitness News and Channel Nine.

And this is just the dogs

Sprawled seductively on the couches and beds of the famous, cats have their own glossy magazines and charity events. Both cats and dogs are lecturing us in TV commercials about everything from cat litter to car insurance.

Some are on Broadway, some in coffee table books. Life stories become best sellers at B & N. The less famous just have play dates, seasonal fashions, spas, boutiques, church blessings, product, and their own park.

New York pets are sophisticated. They do not remind us of our childhood pals.

Now they want their portraits done too!
